Its construction was atypical for its time, with thick solid stone walls throughout the house. With the exception of military constructions, it was uncommon to find such care taken with the strength and durability of houses during this period. During the reign of King Dinis, this property possessed a stable that the king used during his journeys, which is also known as the Posto dos 3 Pinheiros. The house was given its current name “Paço da Sagrada Família” in 1809 and became part of the estate known as Quinta da Romeira. During the early part of the 20th century it was used as a retreat for nuns. It later passed into the hands of a number of illustrious and prestigious citizens, including Dr Beirão da Veiga (founder and first chairman of the Central de Cervejas de Via Longa brewery). Loures is an urban and rural municipality on the outskirts of Lisbon. Offering a more peaceful lifestyle than the capital, Loures is home to old “Quintas” and palaces, villas with gardens, modern buildings, Lisbon International Airport and the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest in Europe, connecting to the south bank of the Tagus and allowing access to the Alentejo and the Algarve. Loures also integrates, in its territory, a well-known Portuguese wine region: Bucelas, with its Wine and Vine Museum. -PROP-024419
